The vice president of the Samsung group, current boss and heir to the empire, Lee Jae-yong, is going to go through a new trial procedure with a view to his arrest. Although at the beginning of this month South Korean prosecutors failed to obtain an arrest warrant accusing him of bribery, it seems that they are not giving up and are going to ask for his arrest again.
In the first attempt, Lee Jae-yong's lawyers managed to convince a court that he did not bribe close associates of the country's president in order to favor the companies. Although a court then rejected the arrest request of the prosecutors, Lee Jae-yong was still detained for one night and the same thing is going to happen again next month.
The prosecutors are going to hear the country's president, Park Geun-hye, at the beginning of February and based on the information obtained, they will decide whether they will demand the arrest of Lee Jae-yong again. The corruption scandal in which the president of South Korea, Park Geun-hye, is involved, is one of great proportions, with hundreds of thousands of people calling for her resignation in the street.
