Apple sold 78.3 million iPhones in Q4 2016

78.3 million iPhone terminals were sold by the Apple company in T4 2016, T1 2017 in its fiscal year, this being a new record for those from Cupertino. Apple collected $78.4 billion in Q4 2016, with 13 million iPad tablets and 5.3 million Macs being sold to generate $9 billion in profit for the company.

Making a comparison with the same period last year, Apple collected a halved profit, although the total receipts were higher, the sales of iPhone terminals increased, while those of the iPad decreased. Practically, Q4 2016 brought a record for the sales of iPhone terminals, increasing by 3.5 million units, the profit being higher by 2.5 billion dollars.

On the other hand, sales of iPad tablets fell by 3.0 million units, while sales of Macs increased by only a few hundred thousand units. All in all, it was a good fiscal quarter for the Apple company from some points of view, but with profit halved, it is clear that massive investments are being made in expanding the service base.

"We're thrilled to report that our holiday quarter results generated Apple's highest quarterly revenue ever, and broke multiple records along the way. We sold more iPhones than ever before and set all-time revenue records for iPhone, Services, Mac and Apple Watch," said Tim Cook, Apple's CEO. "Revenue from Services grew strongly over last year, led by record customer activity on the App Store, and we are very excited about the products in our pipeline."
