Facebook has 1.86 billion active users

Yesterday, Facebook presented its financial results for Q4 2016, surprising analysts with the very good revenues it had, but also with the number of monthly active users. According to those from Facebook, in Q4 2016 it had a maximum of 1.86 billion monthly active users throughout the month, this being an absolute record for the American company.

The number increased by approximately 100 million users compared to the previous fiscal quarter, and by the middle of the year, 2 billion monthly active users will be reached. Throughout 2016, the number of monthly active Facebook users increased by more than 200 million people, and in the following months approximately the same number will gather.

Every day, over 1.23 billion people use the social network Facebook, and among them 1.15 billion access it from mobile terminals. We are talking about an extremely high rate of access from mobile terminals, i.e. over 90%, and this tells us how much the whole world uses the Facebook social network on mobile.

In 2016, Facebook collected 27.6 billion dollars from the sale of advertisements for companies willing to buy them, 8.8 billion of which were generated only in Q4 2016. For 2017, those at Facebook expect both an increase in the number of users and of revenues generated by advertisements, so Facebook will become the first platform with 2 billion monthly active users.
