Apple collects most of the profit of the smartphone industry

In Q4 2016, the Apple company collected 92% of the profit of the entire industry of smartphone manufacturers, according to a US analysis agency. We are talking about an extraordinarily high percentage of the profit generated by the sale of more than 400 million smartphones worldwide, Apple receiving 92% of it.

The Apple company still recorded a slightly lower percentage than in T3 2016 because Samsung managed to increase its level of profitability after the withdrawal of the Galaxy Note 7. Although it has a market share of only 18% in the smartphone segment, here is Apple knows how to put its products at an advantage in order to have a very large profit.

In total, in Q4 2016 the Apple company recorded 92% of the profit of the entire industry of smartphone manufacturers, the rest being shared among competitors. More precisely, Samsung collected 9% of the total profit, Sony 1% and Blackberry 1%, reaching a percentage of 103% because some manufacturers sold smartphones at a loss.

This happens quite often, almost every fiscal quarter, and those from Apple have for many years been in the first place in the list of the highest profits recorded in the smartphone market. If we're being honest, Apple's achievement is no longer surprising, considering that no one has been able to surpass it for some time, and things won't stop anytime soon.

"We believe Apple also benefited from the Galaxy Note 7 recall as Apple management claimed Q4 included the highest number of Android switchers in a quarter. We believe this growth in the installed base should help Apple maintain customers and positions Apple for a strong upgrade cycle on new model launches."
