iCloud secretly stored search and browsing data

The Apple company and iCloud are at the center of a new scandal, it being accused of not deleting the browsing history and internet searches from its servers. We are talking here about the iCloud function that allows the synchronization of some Safari data between iDevices, including internet browsing data.

Normally, deleting them from the terminals should also have the effect of deleting them from the iCloud servers, but the Apple company seems to have a different opinion. According to the creator of a software designed to extract data from the iPhone, the Apple company stores Safari history deleted by users in iCloud, the saved data being in some cases even older than 1 year.

Although normally this information should no longer be found in the iCloud servers, the Apple company continues to store it, without knowing for now what it uses it for. This discovery was also confirmed by a separate computer security company, so we are not talking about a bug that only affects certain users, but about a setting made by Apple.

Apple should normally delete all data from the browsing history, or for Internet searches, when we ask for it. In this situation, those from Apple acted in a different and completely inappropriate way, and after the publication of this information, they started to delete the data saved up to now from iCloud.

""Overall, assuming this was a mistake, it's a reminder that storing and retaining data is the default as a technical matter. Browsing history is a very sensitive set of data... It's vital that people are able to trust that they can be in control of that kind of information. It's one reason we advise using search tools that don't store your history."

If this information had not been published, then Apple would not have deleted, or perhaps just moved, the data from its servers, so it will be interesting to see what will be discovered in the future.
