Separation from the smartphone can cause anxiety

Smartphones have become an integrated part of our lives, and regardless of where we go, or what we do around the house, we always have the smartphone around us. We are basically talking about a smartphone addiction for extremely many people, and this can lead to a very serious illness, according to a recent study.

According to a study carried out by psychologists from the Eotvos Lorand University in Hungary, the separation of smartphone users is a source of stress for users. The problem is so big for some people, that in certain cases the long separation from the smartphone can generate anxiety among users.

The study was carried out by the university on young people between the ages of 18 and 26, asking them to solve mathematical problems and puzzles on computers. Half of those who participated in the study were left without smartphones and were placed in a closed room, while the other half had smartphones and sat in an open space.

The researchers found that users who were left without their smartphone had heart rate fluctuations during work breaks and generally sat near where their smartphone was kept. Moreover, they showed symptoms of stress, more precisely, they scratched themselves constantly and were unusually agitated.

Basically, the people who were left without a smartphone presented symptoms that are normally displayed by people suffering from anxiety, which is unusual. Everything is based on the very high dependence on smartphones that many people have at the moment, and some of us probably suffer from the same thing.

"The mobile phone is special because it's not only an important object, but also represents our other social connections. Children who use mobile phones in childhood, I think they will be even more attached to it."
