Darling – the first smartphone for virtual reality

Darling is a smartphone that was presented at the end of last year and which is now brought back to the attention of the whole world thanks to a presence of its manufacturer at MWC 2017. We are talking about a smartphone produced in China, but which has a special camera that allows recording 360 degrees, especially for virtual reality headsets.

When you use the Darling camera you can record 360-degree photos and videos, so it rotates around you and you can publish that content wherever you can. The technology inside this smartphone allows you to create content perfect for virtual reality headsets, which, for now, no other smartphone can offer.

Darling has a 5.5-inch screen with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, a MediaTek chip, 4 GB of RAM, 64 GB of storage space, 13 megapixel front and rear cameras, plus a 3560 mAh battery. Adding a USB-C port, the Darling has a selling price of $600, which is high for a smartphone produced and sold in China.

There is also a premium model of Darling, whose price is at least 800 dollars, well above those charged for the premium smartphones of the moment. Although the idea behind Darling is interesting, it is hard to say how many people are willing to pay such large amounts for a smartphone whose main function is to record photos/videos at 360 degrees.
