All iPhone terminals will have OLED by 2019

2017 will represent the beginning of a major change for Apple's product line, so that all iPhone terminals will have OLED by 2019. The information comes today from an Asian publication, stating that Apple wants to make the transition to OLED screens for its entire series of iPhone terminals in the next 2 years.

iPhone 8 will be the only new iPhone model in which we will find an OLED screen in 2017 because Apple's Asian partners cannot produce enough components of this kind. By 2019, production should increase substantially, so that will be the first year that all new iPhone terminals launched by Apple will have OLED screens.

Apple wants to produce 60 million units of the iPhone 8 in 2017, all with OLED screens, but that would be only 40% of the total production of iPhones for the end of 2017. Separately, the Apple company will produce iPhone 7S terminals in a much larger number, over 80 million units, so colossal sales are expected for the series.

Samsung and Interflex are the companies that produce components for these OLED screens, those from Samsung exclusively producing the screens as well. Apart from that, those from Samsung intend to increase their production of flexible integrated circuits for iPhone 8, so that they can continue to be Apple's exclusive partner, not only for OLED screens.

Apple has very big plans for the iPhone series and the OLED screens that will be integrated into them, but everything depends on what the company's partners can produce. For now, Apple has nowhere to buy enough OLEd screens as it needs, so the iPhone 8 will start the big change, but other models will continue it in the future.

"Apple is expected to adopt OLED for about 60 million units [...] and double the adoption next year. It aims to use OLED for all its new iPhones by 2019. This year's introduction accounted for only 40%, but next year it is expected to double to 80% and 100% next year."

Having said that, Apple is preparing to completely abandon LCD screens for the iPhone and everything in just 2 years.
