The headphones that caught fire on a woman's head during an air flight

From smartphones that explode during use, today we learn about the story of a pair of headphones that caught fire in the ears of a woman who was sleeping during an air flight. She was on a Beijing-Melbourne race when she woke up violently from her sleep with the headphones burning in her ear, and the picture below will show you how serious the situation was.

The incident happened at an altitude of over 10.000 meters, and the authorities say that the battery inside them overheated while the woman was sleeping. It is not known what kind of headphones it would be, but they would be wireless, so they have probably been in operation for too long and that is why the battery inside them caught fire spontaneously.

A good part of the woman's face was covered by the smoke from the incident and you can see that we are talking about a situation that could become tragic. The woman claims that she was woken up by the headphones that were burning her face, they were thrown on the aisle between the seats of the plane while they gave off sparks and seemed to burn easily.

A flight attendant threw a bucket of water over them, but by then, the fire generated by the battery had melted the plastic so that the headphones remained stuck to the aisle. Details about the injuries suffered by the woman were not provided, but this should make us aware of the dangers of wireless headphones.

"There's never going to be a good time to have a pair of headphones explode on your head. Unfortunately, that's exactly what happened to a very unlucky woman on a recent flight from Beijing to Melbourne. It's believed the battery inside the wireless headphones caught fire after overheating. As I went to turn around I felt burning on my face. I just grabbed my face which caused the headphones to go around my neck. I continued to feel burning so I grabbed them off and threw them on the floor. They were sparking and had small amounts of fire. A quick-thinking flight attendant extinguished the fire with a bucket of water. ... the battery and its cover melted and stuck to the floor of the plane."
