The information comes from Change the Rapper, who published on Twitter information about the money collected from the Apple company for the exclusivity of the latest album.
Specifically, he stated that Apple paid him 500.000 dollars and a video to offer his music exclusively for 2 weeks on the Apple Music platform. 2 weeks after the publication in Apple Music, Chance the Rapper's Coloring Book album was offered for free on SoundCloud, so we are talking about a very big opportunity for him.
Chance the Rapper is not one of the biggest stars in the US music world, so the amount paid by the Apple company is high for him, but very low for other artists. However, the information published by him reveals to us how the Apple company thinks and how it obtains exclusivity, although the music was later to be available for free.
Apple had exclusives from much bigger artists for Apple Music and probably paid a lot more money to make sure their music was available on its platform first.
