Samsung recorded a decline in mobile phone sales

The Samsung company announced its financial results for Q1 2017 and the profit estimated at 8.7 billion dollars was confirmed by the Korean company. We are talking about the largest profit registered in a fiscal quarter of a beginning of the year, the amount occupying the second position in the top of the amounts registered as profit in a fiscal quarter of a year.

According to those from Samsung, the very good profit was recorded thanks to the very high sales of components for its various partners, mostly screens and memories. The Samsung division that produces components has been recording very good sales for several fiscal quarters, and this at the expense of the division that produces mobile phones.

In the case of the latter, the Samsung company recorded a decrease in mobile phone sales and implicitly a decrease in recorded receipts. The launch of the Samsung Galaxy S8 had a negative impact on Samsung's mobile phone sales, and this is perfectly normal, as expected.

Considering this information, there is a chance that the differences in smartphone sales between Samsung and Apple will be small in Q1 2017. Samsung has also confirmed that it will launch a new premium smartphone in Q2 2017, and the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is the most probably the smartphone that will appear on global markets from the Korean manufacturer.

"Samsung Electronics today announced financial results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2017. Samsung's revenue for the quarter was KRW 50.55 trillion, an increase of KRW 0.77 trillion YoY, while operating profit for the quarter was KRW 9.90 trillion, an increase of KRW 3.22 trillion YoY. In the first quarter, sales for the memory and display businesses increased, owing to high ASPs and strong sales of premium products. However, revenue from the mobile business decreased due to a decline in flagship product sales."
