Samsung Galaxy S8 – new screen problems

The Samsung Galaxy S8 could have new problems with the screen, which would be susceptible to the phenomenon of burn-in due to the virtual Home button.

Samsung Galaxy S8 does not get rid of the complaints of the users who bought the new smartphone, the problems with the screen seem to continue this week as well. If last weeks we were talking about problems with the Samsung Galaxy S8 screens that were based on a reddish tinge for some models, now we are talking about something completely different.

More precisely, at least one screen of the Samsung Galaxy S8 would suffer from so-called burn-in effects, found in some models of OLED screens. Basically, at least one Samsung Galaxy S8 user would complain about the fact that the virtual Home button remains visible even if the screen is completely off, or in an interface where it shouldn't be visible.

According to the media in Asia, the Samsung Galaxy S8 screen would suffer from a problem that would generate the permanent discoloration of the pixels of some OLED screens. This is possible if the same model is permanently displayed in the same area of an OLED screen, but Samsung representatives say that they have implemented a change in the software designed to protect the Samsung Galaxy S8 from this.

Samsung Galaxy S8 – new screen problems

The Samsung Galaxy S8 has the Always-On display function that allows the display of some information about the weather, notifications, time, or even the virtual Home button on the lock screen. Samsung says that the Samsung Galaxy S8 Android is specially made to change the position of these elements so that the burn-in effect does not occur and the pixels do not fade permanently.

Those from Samsung have not confirmed that this problem reported for the Samsung Galaxy S8 screen exists because they have not checked the device. However, even if they do, it is unlikely that Samsung will admit the existence of such a problem for the Samsung Galaxy S8, at least since the complaints appeared.

"On a South Korean internet community on May 1, a Galaxy S8 user uploaded a post showing his smartphone that appeared to have a burn-in on the screen. The writer highlighted it had been just over a week since he started using the new phone."

Considering that this problem exists for OLED screens, it would not be excluded that some models of the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus are affected. However, we are not talking about a defect, or a problem affecting a large number of Samsung Galaxy S8 units, so sales will certainly not be affected.
