AirPods had excellent sales at the beginning of this year, with Apple announcing that it currently does not have enough units to cover market demand. Apple does not announce sales for AirPods, Apple Watch, or other products of this kind, but says that they are very high in Q1 2017.
According to Apple, sales of AirPods, Apple Watch and Beats products reached several billion dollars in Q1 2017. Apple said that the revenue is similar to that of a Fortune 500 company, so we are talking about a large number of units per which Apple sells on global markets, they most likely compensate for the drop in iPhone and iPad sales.
Sales for the category in which Apple includes AirPods, Apple Watch, Beats and other accessories, increased by 31% compared to the same period last year, the amount exceeding 5 billion dollars. Even if we do not know what percentage of this amount was brought by headphones and smart watches, we are certainly talking about at least a third of it.
Apple launched new models of the Apple Watch in the fall of last year, they had quite good sales, the AirPods headphones being available for purchase from the beginning of this year. Why Apple does not want to officially announce sales for these products remains a mystery, especially if they are good, but unfortunately things will not change soon.
