Apple refuses to replace Beats headphones that exploded in a woman's ear

A few weeks ago I told you about the terrible experience of a woman whose Beats headphones exploded while she was sleeping in a plane that was over 10.000 meters high. The incident attracted the attention of the world press at that time, and because we are talking about a pair of Beats headphones, Apple got involved to investigate the case.

During the investigation, those from Apple found out that the root of the problem is a pair of AAA batteries that the woman bought from a third-party tutor. Considering that those batteries are the cause of the explosion, the Apple company decided not to replace the pair of headphones affected in the incident, as is normal in the end.

Of course, the woman declared herself disappointed by Apple's decision because the respective headphones do not work without batteries, and Apple does not recommend batteries that should be used. This recommendation is not made because, probably, any kind of batteries are good, as long as they do not explode, this being the fault of the battery manufacturer and not of Apple.

It is not known what kind of Beats headphones the woman was using, but some models require AAA batteries to work, and anyone can use any kind of batteries they want. Unfortunately, incidents like this can occur with any standard electronic product that requires AAA batteries to operate.

"An Australian woman whose face, hands and hair were burned when her headphones exploded on a plane won't be compensated by manufacturer Apple because third-party batteries were at fault. The woman, who wishes to remain anonymous, was napping on a Beijing to Melbourne flight in February when she was awakened by the sound of an explosion and a burning sensation on her face. "Our investigation indicated the issue was caused by a third-party battery," an Apple representative said in a statement issued by the woman's lawyers on Friday."
