Apple doesn't delete iCloud notes when we want them to

iCloud has a lot of functions, including one that allows you to store notes from the Notes application so that they can be accessed on any other iDevices connected to the same Apple ID. iCloud allows us to delete these notes when we don't need them, but it seems that Apple doesn't delete them when it should, but keeps them longer.

Deleted notes should remain for 30 days in the recently deleted notes folder by us, but a company in Russia discovered that they remain in the iCloud servers much longer, even if they are deleted, theoretically, after 30 days. Elcomsoft is this company, and with its own software called Phone Breaker tool, it managed to recover iCloud notes deleted 5 years ago.

Those from Elcomsoft managed to download from iCloud dozens of iPhone notes that were deleted more than 30 days before the period in which they should theoretically have been stored. In the case of one of the notes, we are talking about a deletion made in 2012, so Apple seems to store these notes for an unlimited period of time, without telling the users.

"We did it again. After recovering deleted photos and Safari browsing history from iCloud, we now add the ability to recover deleted notes from the same source regardless of how much time has passed after the deletion. The oldest record we've been able to pull was deleted back in 2012."

Although Elcomsoft managed to recover some notes, it does not guarantee that any kind of old deleted notes can be recovered by users. In some accounts they recovered old notes from up to 2012, but in some accounts they could not recover notes deleted more than 30 days ago, so in some cases Apple respects its rules.

"While some of our test accounts did indeed contain deleted notes going all the way back to 2015, some other accounts contained much less than that."

For now, Elcomsoft's software is the only one that proves that Apple is lying when it says how long it keeps notes in iCloud before deleting them permanently, but probably others will allow their recovery just as easily.

  1. you call apple. or the easiest, better you go to istyle or noumax so that the request comes from an authorized reseller.. they will ask you for some data, people, etc. and in about 5 working days it is possible to receive them back.

  2. You realize that what he says is nonsense, but what can you ask the Serb? I don't think there is anyone who would ask for the recovery of data deleted "by mistake" 5 years ago.
You deleted them by mistake, you request their recovery in less than 30 days.

Here Apple proves once again that it is a lying company (that too with the sapphire on the camera), and that it cares little about customer privacy.

  3. Who said that he requested data recovery after more than 3 months?! God, what a lowly man with limited knowledge, and unfounded accusations, brother, you can see that you live your life closed. Reach out and go to an apple store and ask if noumax has done something like this, surely they are capable of that. What a poor man

  4. It has sapphire on the camera, stay calm. It has already been explained, but not for those who read about a problem once and then the topic is closed for them

  5. When you have no argument, you start to offend. It's reasonable to throw out a tough word exceptionally, but you do it routinely, frequently, which says a lot about the level of education and intelligence you (don't) have.

  6. I am not making baseless accusations my dear adopted child. Whoever starts that is the head of the wicked. The next time you don't want something like that, don't gossip with another user like some pitzipoance and expect us to praise you for what a cultured person you are. Poor people, such a company, such users
