Essential – the smartphone created by the "father" of Android

Essential is the new smartphone created by the "father" of Android, it being based on this operating system, but with many novelties.

Essential is the new smartphone created by the company founded by the "father" Android, Andy Rubin, the man who had the idea to develop the most popular operating system on the planet. Andy Rubin left Google some time ago, he founded a company whose sole purpose is to create a perfect Android smartphone, and Essential is it.

According to those who had the opportunity to see Essential, the new smartphone has top hardware, a relatively interesting design, but also a selling price that starts at 699 dollars. Essential has a screen that stretches from one edge to another of the front panel, surrounding the main camera in a completely unexpected way for a smartphone of this kind.

Essential will initially be launched only in the US, with a Snapdragon 835 chip with 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage space, with the latest version of Android installed. From a visual point of view, Essential is not really that attractive, but it will definitely stand out thanks to the front camera that is surrounded by the screen, something that I have only seen in concepts.

Essential has a fingerprint reader integrated into the case, which is a stupid decision, but it is made using titanium and ceramic, so it is very durable. However, the Essential novelties do not stop here, the company intends to sell a variety of accessories for the terminal, which will be connected to the smartphone with the help of a magnet and a similar Smart Connector port.

The Essential does not come with a 3.5mm audio port, as we expected, but it will have a USB-C port and a special accessory that will allow you to connect standard headphones. Essential has a dual camera that allows recording good photos in low light conditions, especially since the second sensor is not for zoom, but monochrome.

Essential had and will have some media attention in the next period, but this will not necessarily generate very high sales. Essential comes into a world where there are extremely many Android terminals on the market, especially in China, so its success is not guaranteed and it probably won't even rise to the level of Google Pixel in sales.
