Facebook - Man sentenced to 35 years in prison because of some pictures

Facebook brought a man a prison sentence of 35 years after publishing pictures and video clips in which he insulted a royal family.

Facebook was recently used to convince a court to sentence a man to 35 years in prison because of some pictures uploaded to it. We are talking about a story that comes directly from Thailand, a country that has extremely strict laws and that prohibits the publication on Facebook of pictures of certain people with management functions.

The man sentenced to 35 years in prison is 34 years old and recently published on Facebook pictures and video clips with the royal family from Thailand. This is the harshest punishment imposed for posts made on the Facebook social network, but being a precedent, it will certainly not be the last that will lead to the incarceration of some people.

By publishing these pictures on the Facebook social network, the man insulted the royal family from Thailand, and his punishment is one that also applies to those accused of murder. Over time, many people have been convicted for similar actions, but this case involving Facebook brought the harshest punishment of all.

Initially, the man's sentence was 70 years in prison for publishing 10 posts on Facebook, receiving a sentence of 7 years for each. His total sentence was reduced by half after he admitted that he had published the content on the Facebook social network, but even so we are talking about an extremely harsh punishment imposed in Thailand.

Although the punishment is far too harsh for what the man did, he does not intend to appeal against it, as all the content has already been deleted from Facebook. Today's sentence harshly follows one from 2015, when a man who did similar things on Facebook was sentenced to 30 years in prison.

Having said that, if you happen to end up in Thailand, be careful not to insult the royal family, otherwise you might not see Romanian land and Facebook again for several decades.
