iPhone 8 – the resolution of the new 5.8-inch screen

iPhone 8 has a new resolution of 2436 x 1125 pixels for the 5.15-inch portion of the 5.8-inch screen that will display information from applications.

iPhone 8 will be launched by the Apple company with a screen that has a diagonal of 5.8 inches, and this means that a new resolution will be used for it. iPhone 8 began to be tested by the Apple company in the wider world, and its employees began to access the websites that publish information about Apple on a daily basis, so now we find out what resolution the iPhone 8 screen has.

According to estimates so far, the iPhone 8 with a 5.8-inch screen will also offer a resolution of 2800 x 1242 pixels, almost double the one currently used in the iPhone 7. A part of this screen, i.e. 0.55 inches, would be reserved for a virtual Home button and other functions of iOS 11 for iPhone 8, so for the rest of the screen a resolution of 2436 x 1125 pixels would remain.

This remaining screen, equivalent to 5.15 inches, would display the applications and information from iOS 11, and it would have a resolution of 2436 x 1125 pixels. Now, developers know that iOS displays images in iPhone terminals with 5.5-inch screens with a 3x multiplication factor, icons and special graphic elements having to be created for each type of resolution.

Dividing this resolution of 2436 x 1125 by a factor of 3x, we arrive at the resolution of 812 x 357 pixels, which is attributed to the iPhone 8 and which was found in some website access logs. Basically, the iPhone 8 would have a higher resolution than the iPhone 7, but also a larger screen diagonal, but the content would be displayed in a narrower space, with 174 points per inch instead of 163.

Considering that iPhone terminals have been discovered whose resolution is scaled to 2436 x 1125, it is clear that we are talking about the iPhone 8. Considering also the period in which these terminals began to be used for Internet browsing, it is clear that Apple is preparing to start the production of iPhone 8, the public testing phase being the last before the initiation of mass production.

All the terminals that visit the websites with this resolution run iOS 11, which will be used on the iPhone 8, all are from California, and some have IP addresses owned by Apple. The same websites were visited by the iPad Pro 10.5 inch before the launch, the resolution corresponding to the final one of Apple, so it is quite clear that even now we are talking about the iPhone 8.
