The EU wants to ban backdoors, requires data encryption

The European Union, the EU, could make a historic decision if the legislative proposal made by the justice department of the European Parliament would be adopted. We are talking about a law that would impose the encryption of all communications to the user and the server through which they pass, but which would prohibit the existence of gateways in the systems where this data is stored.

At the moment, the companies that have various communication services can access the messages sent by users thanks to these access ports in them. Although the communications are encrypted between the people who send the data, everything that is saved in the servers of the companies that allow mobile communications can be accessed, including at the request of the authorities, with a court order.

The EU wants to ban this and encrypt all communications to keep users safe, the law based on Article 7 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The EU wants all companies that offer communication services, of any kind, to guarantee the privacy and security of user data, regardless of how these people communicate.

Those from the EU practically want to prevent situations like those in the USA, where the authorities have access to any kind of data, sometimes even without the users knowing what is happening. Of course, from the legislative proposal to the law is a very long way, but the idea of those from the EU still has chances of success, if enough parliamentarians will be convinced to vote positively.

"Confidentiality of electronic communications ensures that information exchanged between parties and the external elements of such communication, including when the information has been sent, from where, to whom, is not to be revealed to anyone other than to the parties involved in a communication.
