iPhone 8 – big problems with the production of components

iPhone 8 will not have an easy launch, the manufacturers of components for the new smartphone have already announced that they have big problems in complying with the orders received. Those in Taiwan complain that in S2 2017 they cannot cover the demand for screens, memories, batteries and cameras for smartphone manufacturers, including Apple with its iPhone.

We have already known for several months that there will be problems with the production of components for the iPhone 8, and today's information only confirms what was said. We know that Apple requested that some components of the iPhone 8 be produced since June, but even so it is not known if there will be enough to produce the number of units that Apple wants for the launch.

Apple wants iPhone 8 production to start in August, at the latest, so by then all components must arrive at Foxconn to start production. It is not known how many iPhone 8 units Apple will be able to manufacture for the launch in September or October, but we are probably not talking about as many terminals as they would like.

Apple struggled in recent years with the production of iPhone terminals before the launch, and in 2017 it will launch the iPhone 7S, iPhone 7S Plus and iPhone 8, all with many new components. If for the first two there are many components from the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus that can be recycled, the much bigger problems will be with the iPhone 8, which will be almost completely changed.

"Demand for handset components will increase significantly, and may result in shortages. Design-in of larger memory capacity, high-density batteries, high-resolution cameras as well as dual-lens camera modules have resulted in shortages of these key components. A significant increase in the use of 18:9 panels and Type-C interface solutions has also raised concerns of supply uncertainty for related parts in the second half of the year."
