iPhone turned 10 years old! Happy Birthday!

iPhone turned 10 years old, June 29, 2007 being the day when the Apple company put up for sale the most desired smartphone on the planet, then and now. The iPhone was presented in January 2007, but the Apple company needed another 6 months to complete the development process and set everything up for launch for a planet that would be conquered from day one.

The iPhone was put on sale at a price of 499 dollars in the US, without taxes, and Apple stores were attacked from the opening hour by long queues of people eager to buy the new terminals. Queues still exist today, despite the fact that the iPhone can also be bought online, with Apple stores having long queues of people eager to buy the smartphones at every launch.

The iPhone was launched in a world dominated by smartphones with physical keyboards and small or resistive screens, representing a real revolution in the field. Its 3.5 inch screen, very small now, benefited from capacitive multitouch technology, which not only allowed very easy use with a single finger, but was also able to interpret multiple touches.

This was only a part of the revolution, because the applications were the ones that created the real hysteria, surfing the Internet, using email, viewing pictures, managing a calendar, or checking the voice box being totally transformed. The Apple company thought of an imperfect smartphone, but "perfect" enough to conquer everyone, even if it was initially sold only in the USA.

The first iPhone didn't have a front camera, it couldn't make video calls, it didn't have 3G connectivity, it didn't have good autonomy, it didn't have an application store, but it had other functions that made the rest of the smartphones look like toys. Although it did not have colossal sales in the first year, the iPhone managed to substantially increase its customer base as it was available in more and more countries.

iPhone 2G vs iPhone 8

In the 10 years, the iPhone has evolved a lot, and the image above shows as well as possible an evolution that probably even Steve Jobs didn't think about in 2007. In 2017, the iPhone still remains imperfect, still without the functions of other smartphones, but still with many loyal fans, who would not change it for anything else.

iPhone 10 years anniversary

At 10 years old, the iPhone will go through a new major transformation, but nothing that Apple will present this year will be as revolutionary as the first model was. Besides, it's hard to believe that Apple will ever be able to present a product as revolutionary as the iPhone, but fans hope, hope and hope again.
