Microsoft Fires Thousands of Employees in 2017

Microsoft will lay off several thousand people from locations all over the world, the most affected being employees from the company's sales departments.

Microsoft will soon initiate an extensive layoff process that will leave thousands of employees from all over the world without a job. We are talking about a process that the Microsoft company has not yet publicly detailed, but which it has already discussed with some of its employees, and one of them told the press what is actually being prepared at the headquarters in Redmond.

According to this anonymous source, Microsoft wants to do a massive reorganization among the employees it has at the moment, many of whom will be left without a job. According to some unofficial statistics, at the moment Microsoft has over 114.000 employees in various offices around the world, the figure being an impressive one, but we are also talking about a giant corporation.

Microsoft is going to announce this week the layoffs of thousands of employees around the world, but separately it will also announce a merger between two of its divisions. More precisely, the Microsoft division that deals with corporate clients and one, or more, of the SME ones will merge to reduce operating costs, many of their employees may be laid off in the process.

Microsoft will announce the layoff of several thousand employees this week

Microsoft wants to increase the importance of cloud services among the sales of services worldwide, and the layoffs will be related to this. It seems that the employees who had the worst performances recently will leave Microsoft, and this is perfectly normal for a company whose main goal is to make as much money as possible.

Microsoft organized by Microsoft seem to be based on the changes in the management of the company, which took place during 2016. More precisely, two new vice-presidents took over the management of the sales and marketing divisions, one of them publicly criticizing the performance of some Microsoft employees and the way they tried to attract new customers in the last year.

"A source with knowledge of the planned downsizing told us that the US firm would lay off "thousands" of staff across the world. The restructuring is set to include an organizational merger that involves its enterprise customer unit and one or more of its SME-focused divisions. The changes are set to be announced this coming week, we understand."

He also stated that Microsoft's Azure cloud platform is at the center of his plans for increasing sales, so it is quite clear in which direction it will go. This is not the first year in which Microsoft announces layoffs in this period, July being the last month of the company's fiscal year, and in the past similar measures were announced during the same period.

Having said that, Microsoft is reducing its number of employees by a few thousand, while Apple has no plans to announce such radical moves, but is hiring more and more.
