OnePlus 5 – Problem after Copying iPhone 7 Plus

The OnePlus 5 copied the design of the iPhone 7 Plus, but it was left with a big problem for the screen, which the OnePlus company considered to be something perfectly normal.

OnePlus 5 copied the iPhone 7 Plus, we know that for sure, there is no doubt, and the OnePlus people have no problem with it because in China it is normal to do something like that, unlike in the civilized world. However, in the rush to copy the iPhone 7 Plus, the Chinese at OnePlus did not take into account a very important problem that quite a few customers who bought the OnePlus 5 are now complaining about.

More precisely, we are talking about the screens mounted upside down by the OnePlus company in the OnePlus 5 terminals, this positioning being intentional, according to checks made in the terminals. You can see in the image below that the OnePlus 5 has the chip for controlling the screen positioned at the bottom of the device, unlike the OnePlus 3T which has it at the top.

The reasons why the OnePlus 5 has the screen mounted upside down are the dual camera and the antennas that are visible in the upper and lower parts of the case. These elements are just some copied from the iPhone 7 Plus, but because of them the OnePlus 5 generates a stretching effect in the interface when users scroll through some application menus in their terminals.

OnePlus 5 – the big problem generated by copying the iPhone 7 Plus

OnePlus made the decision to reverse-mount the screens of some of the OnePlus 5 terminals to make room for the camera and antennas, and through software tried to compensate for the problem. Unfortunately, on some OnePlus 5 terminals the refresh rate affects the way the interface is rendered, and apart from regular customers, some journalists noticed exactly the same problem with the terminals.

OnePlus believes that this would not be a problem with the OnePlus 5, but that in reality it would be something perfectly normal, but they will probably learn quickly that it is not good to lie to your customers. In general, copying the design of another smartphone does not have consequences of this kind, but in the case of the OnePlus 5, we are talking about a company with engineers who did not foresee the stupid things they do in reality.

Now OnePlus does not want to replace the OnePlus 5 units that have this defect, but those who bought them online can return them within a certain period of time. The rest who do not have this possibility are forced to stay with the OnePlus 5 terminals that extend the interface during scrolling and will probably wait for the launch of a new model during the next year.

Having said that, if OnePlus has no legal problems after copying the iPhone 7 Plus, the OnePlus 5 has enough hardware problems and generates many complaints.
