Romania – Average Internet Speeds in S1 2017

Romania had fairly good average Internet browsing speeds in S1 2017, according to those from ANCOM, who published the data during this day. According to those from ANCOM, the average download speed via intermet in Romania in S1 2017 reached 109 Mbps, 45% higher than that recorded in the first 6 months of 2016, the increase being a substantial one for our country.

In the case of mobile internet speeds, those from ANCOM claim that they have decreased by 28% compared to S1 2016, more precisely from 27.72 Mbps then, to 19.99 Mbps now. The decrease would be mainly due to the greater number of tests carried out in the ANCOM platform that allows the measurement of Internet browsing speeds in Romania, but also to other factors, such as the reduced performance of the routers used to provide the Internet.

For this reason, ANCOM recommends Romanians to buy Internet browsing equipment that supports the high speeds that Internet service providers can offer. All cheap routers are not able to support Internet browsing speeds that exceed 50 Mbps for mobile devices, especially if more than one device is connected to that router in the house.

ANCOM also recommends placing the routers in an area where there are no objects in front of them, because this affects the quality of the connection. If we are also talking about using a Wi-Fi connection in a different room than the one where the router is placed, then it is easy to understand why the Internet browsing speed will be far below our expectations, so you must take into account all these aspects before starting to surf the Internet.
