Samsung Announces HomePod Competing Speaker

Samsung confirmed yesterday the intentions to launch a competing smart speaker HomePod, as was rumored a few weeks ago. Then it was said that Samsung would have in development a smart speaker that works with the help of the personal assistant Bixby, this having established as a clear objective the launch after Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), announced the HomePod, but Samsung claims that its target is actually Google Home.

Samsung actually intends to compete with Apple and HomePod, and according to the company's president, the new smart speaker will be launched soon. Samsung has been developing this product for some time without a clear intention to launch it, but the appearance of the HomePod was the necessary impetus to bring this product to the market because Samsung wants to compete everywhere but Apple.

Samsung accelerated the development process of its smart speaker, as expected after Apple announced the HomePod, the company's intention being to create a complete experience for customers. This means that Samsung's smart speaker will interconnect with smartphones, tablets, but also with other products that the Koreans have for sale at the moment, so we are talking about a complete experience.

Samsung will still have a big problem with this new product because Bixby is very far from being a useful personal assistant, as Siri is. HomePod has functionality centered on Siri, and Samsung will not be able to offer something similar in the coming years, so it could make fun of its product, but this would not be the first time something like this would happen to Koreans.

"Maybe soon we will announce it. I am already working on it. As I mentioned I wanted to provide a fruitful user experience at home with Samsung devices, and I want to be moving quite heavily on it."
