The iPhone 8 has a new button to activate Siri, according to information discovered and published last night by a developer who revealed many new features of iPhone X. According to this developer, a function was discovered in the source code of iOS that allows the activation Crab in iPhone 8, or iPhone X, using the Power button, which has a longer length in the new Apple phone.
iPhone 8 explained this change of the Power button by the fact that it is easier to use with a screen that has a larger diagonal, and if Apple wants to allow the activation of Siri, then the change is logical. The new Power button of the iPhone 8 seems to be about 50% longer than the one in the iPhone 7, and this is because the screen used in this new phone has a larger diagonal than in the old model.
iPhone 8 would be the first to use the Power button to enable Siri activation, the Home button being currently used for this function. Now the long press of the Home button activates Siri, but in iPhone 8 it will completely disappear from the phone, so Apple would like to float the Power button for the same action, but its long press activates the shutdown menu.

The iPhone 8 could have a new method of being shut down using the Power button if Apple decides that its long press will activate Siri instead of the shutdown menu. Apple already has in iOS 11 a dedicated button in the settings application to close an iPhone, so the iPhone 8 could remain only with that option, although the idea itself is not so good, because sometimes it is also necessary a physical button.
The iPhone 8 will not remain without the Power button for starting, but after it has been turned on, it is very possible that its functionality will be modified by Apple. There is also the possibility that Apple will decide to allow the choice of the functionality of the Home button for those who want to use the option Hey Siri instead of the iPhone 8's Power button to activate the personal assistant when they need it.
iPhone 8 comes with many changes and it is possible that Apple just tested the idea of reusing the Power button for another functionality separate from that of closing and locking. At the moment, no one can say for sure that the Power button of the iPhone 8 will have the modified functionality to activate Siri instead of the shutdown menu, although this seems very likely, so it remains to be seen what the Apple company will announce on September 12.
