Siri Saved a Little Girl's Life after Hurricane Harvey

Siri saved the life of a little girl after Hurricane Harvey devastated the state of Texas and other areas of the USA, the personal assistant helping the little girl to quickly ask for help when she really needed it. Specifically, the 14-year-old girl had stayed outside the evacuation zone for Hurricane Harvey, and because she couldn't talk to a 911 operator, blocked by calls, she thought of using Siri to ask for help.

The girl suffers from a rare disease that produces anemia at the cellular level, and due to the stress generated by the danger of the hurricane, she suffered a crisis that put her life in real danger. After calling the Coast Guard, a helicopter landed near the family, but even though the girl had a fever of 39 degrees, she was not taken to a hospital, the rescuers stating that they only take the elderly.

After a second call made to the Coast Guard with the help of Siri, the girl and her family were taken to a safe area by a second helicopter that landed near them a few hours later. Of course, instead of Siri could be any other voice-guided software, but of course only Siri is very helpful every time, the rest of the systems of this kind must not be used too often for that.

"Stranded outside in the rising waters of Hurricane Harvey, feverish and in great pain, 14-year-old Tyler Frank tried desperately to think of ways to get herself and her family to safety. Calling 911 didn't work. Begging for help on Facebook and Instagram failed, too. "I was like, 'Siri's smart enough! Let me ask her!' Tyler said. And indeed, Siri was smart enough. With one inquiry to the Apple personal assistant — "Siri, call the Coast Guard" — Tyler got her whole family rescued after two days out in the storm."
