Kaspersky – iPhone X Face ID more secure than Galaxy S8

Kaspersky claims that iPhone X has in Face ID a more secure facial recognition system than the one offered by Samsung Galaxy S8 to Android users.

Kaspersky claims that the iPhone X has Face ID more secure than the standard 2D facial recognition systems, so implicitly the one used in the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Samsung Galaxy Note 8. The iPhone X uses a TrueDepth camera for the facial recognition system based on Face ID, this creating deep 3D images of people's faces, unlike the system in the Samsung Galaxy S8 which only takes pictures of girls.

The iPhone X offers superior security for customers, according to Kaspersky, compared to what the Samsung Galaxy S8 offers, which can also be fooled with pictures. Those from Kaspersky are also discussing the case of the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 tricked with a picture, although it would have been about a demo unit that would have been unlocked with anything, but it is clear that the iPhone X has a much better security system more advanced than Samsung.

iPhone X has Face ID with facial recognition based on the analysis of 30.000 points of the face using an infrared sensor, thus creating the 3D image in depth of the face. The iPhone X also scans 50 muscles of the face for Face ID, while the Samsung Galaxy S8 takes 2D pictures and analyzes them without having a security system that is at least a quarter as well thought out, and Kaspersky confirms this .

Kaspersky says that the iPhone X could have a more secure Face ID than Touch ID, Apple announcing this on the stage of its conference. Face ID in iPhone X is 20 times more secure than Touch ID, according to Apple, the chances of another person's face unlocking are 1 in 1.000.000, compared to Touch ID where the chances of another fingerprint unlocking being 1 in 50.000.

The iPhone X still has a vulnerability when it comes to brothers or twin sisters, here the Apple company says that Face ID could be fooled quite easily. However, the people from Apple created facial masks with Hollywood experts to fool the Face ID of the iPhone X and they still didn't succeed, so the pictures will not fool the facial recognition system, as happened in the case of the Samsung Galaxy S8 .

"Based on Face ID design, we can say that the new iPhone's facial recognition should be more secure than that of traditional facial recognition done by a simple 2-D front-facing camera, and it might be more secure than the Touch ID fingerprint sensor .”

The iPhone X has a Face ID developed by the Apple company to provide the best level of biometric security for the smartphone, while the Samsung Galaxy S8 has a "toy" system. Google developed that facial recognition system to allow users to "play" with it, but nothing more, and at this stage it has remained, a joke next to the Face ID offered by the iPhone X.
