WhatsApp - Why it is NOT good to close the application

WhatsApp displays an alert message explaining why it is not good to close the application in the background, but how good is it to respect it?

WhatsApp is the largest text messaging platform on the planet, with over 1.2 billion users worldwide, trailing only Facebook Messenger, at a tiny distance. Both messaging platforms are owned by the Facebook company, and both have an enormous number of users in various countries around the world, the platform still being popular without being shoved down anyone's throat.

This is a very popular application because it is very simple and works without problems for most people, but new functions are constantly being implemented in it. One of the basic functions of the application is for notifications, iPhone and Android users receiving a notification every time a message is sent to the people they are talking to, and they can quickly respond to them.

This functionality allows us to quickly find out when someone is looking for us, but it seems that it is affected by the complete closing of the application in the background, something that many know/knew. It seems that the engineers of the American company have included a new alert message in the application that tells us that it may not send notifications for received messages if it is completely closed in the background, which should not happen.

The application could display this alert message in iPhones when someone tries to close it from the background, which until now did not appear. It is not mandatory that the alert message be displayed for everyone when trying to close the application in the background, and the warning is strange anyway, because the notification system in iOS is thought out in a very good way.

Theoretically, if the WhatsApp application is closed and in the background, we will still receive notifications for messages, which you have surely noticed in your daily use of the application. The alert message that the application currently displays on some phones should not be there and not everyone will see it, as there is no rule regarding its display, especially since iOS notifications appear anyway.

To be completely honest, I don't know why the company included this alert in the application, because notifications appear in messages anyway, and the application consumes a lot of resources when it's in the background. It is possible that the company's engineers will display the alert to collect usage data, or location, when the application is open in the background, so it would be better to ignore the message.
