Qualcomm Loses 90% of Profit Due to Apple

Qualcomm lost a very large part of its quarterly profit due to the legal dispute it has with the Apple company at the moment.

Qualcomm was left without 90% of its quarterly profit due to the legal battle it is fighting with Apple at the moment, with revenues also falling by 4.5%. Those from Qualcomm did not hide the fact that revenues and profits decreased due to the lawsuits they opened against Apple in various areas around the world, but the situation may become dramatic for the company very soon.

Qualcomm collected 5.96 billion dollars in Q4 2017 compared to 6.2 billion dollars in Q4 2016, here the difference is not that big between the two fiscal quarters. In terms of profit, Qualcomm declared a profit of 168 million dollars, 89.5% lower than the one recorded in Q4 2016, this being the biggest problem that the company will face in the coming months.

Qualcomm no longer collects licensing fees from Apple and other partners of those from Cupertino, and this means at least 1 billion dollars that have not reached the company's accounts. The amount is very large and will increase in the coming months if Apple and Qualcomm do not reach an agreement to end the lawsuits they have opened, those from Cupertino having very little to lose.

Qualcomm could lose even more if Apple completely abandons its products for the iPhone and iPad, the receipts could be halved overnight with no chance of recovery. Although there is a chance that Qualcomm and Apple will reach an agreement to end the current procedural disputes, it is difficult to say when, or even if, this will happen.
