Face ID in iPhone X can be Tricked by Kids

iPhone X has a Face ID that can be fooled by children who manage to use their parents' phones, facial recognition not being that secure.

Face ID from iPhone X he is starting to show his limitations in new videos and after last week we saw how he can be fooled with a mask, now we see how a child can do the same thing. In the video clip below, you will see a mother giving her child the iPhone X secured with Face ID, and it unlocks it even though the mother has her face registered to use the biometric security system.

This is the first situation when it is demonstrated that Face ID can be unlocked by a woman's child, the only real case demonstrated being of some brothers who learned the system to recognize them. Practically, although Apple says that Face ID should be safe, the American company claims that facial recognition will not work as it should in the case of children who are younger than 13 years old, the boy in the clip being 10 years old.

In this situation, the facial recognition system unlocks the iPhone X, most likely after several failed attempts in which the phone's access code was entered. When this was done, Face ID also learned the face of the child together with that of the mother, and so the system was tricked into unlocking for both people, the same thing being done by two Indian brothers, who are not twins.

Apple claimed that twin siblings could unlock their iPhone X phones with Face ID because of the girls' similar build, but only offered the age warning for children. Considering that in this situation the child is 3 years old, it is quite clear that everything that the Apple company said turns out to be true, so a child should be able to unlock the parent's phone after several unsuccessful attempts.

From here to forcing Face ID to recognize completely different faces is not a very long way and, probably, fooling the system with a mask was also done by "training" the system. Every time Face ID does not recognize the person in front of the camera and the access code is entered, the face is scanned by the iPhone X and saved in the artificial intelligence system that performs facial recognition.

The Apple company will have to admit at some point that Face ID is not as secure as many people would like, and this is because the technology is still far from that. At least in the case of mobile phones, facial recognition is far from what it should be, and the iPhone X does not seem to have something secure.
