Last night I told you that Apple slows down the iPhone through iOS depending on the level of wear of the battery, phones with older batteries having reduced performance because they say so Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), that it's ok. The American company motivates its gesture by the fact that old batteries do not have as high a capacity and cannot provide the necessary energy for the energy peaks that the components demand iPhone, so sometimes they close.
To prevent shutdowns, Apple arbitrarily decided to reduce iPhone performance by up to half through changes made to iOS, and starting with iOS 11.2, all models from iPhone 7 to iPhone 5S are affected. The performances are reduced only if your battery has a higher degree of wear, and the Battery Life application will help you find out the degree of wear of the battery you have in your iPhone.
Battery Life – how to see iPhone battery capacity
The Battery Life application provides information on the energy storage capacity that is still available for your battery and what degree of wear it actually has, only phones that are at least 1 year old need to be checked. In their case, it is possible that a large number of charge/discharge cycles impose a reduction in performance so that the phones do not shut down suddenly during use in the cold.
If the Battery Life application tells you that you have a high degree of battery wear, then it is advisable to change it to ensure that you benefit from the best possible performance. Replacing an old battery with a new battery solves the performance problem imposed by Apple, and replacing the battery is not that expensive at Apple.
Battery Life can be downloaded for free from the AppStore available here, and my advice is to NOT replace the battery except at authorized Apple services.
