Cheaper roaming starting January 1, 2018

Starting with January 1, 2018, we will have cheaper roaming for all subscriptions and active mobile phone cards with operators in Romania.

roaming cheaper starting January 1, 2018 is not a dream, but a reality, those from ANCOM reiterating today what some mobile operators had announced a few weeks ago. More precisely, starting from January 1, 2018, roaming rates will decrease in the case of mobile telephony, so that we will benefit from cheaper internet, or more from subscriptions, and lower prices for minutes.

ANCOM announced that starting from January 1, 2018, the price per GB of mobile internet in roaming will drop from 7.7 euros, which is now, to 6 euros, so we will pay less for the internet. In the case of existing mobile phone subscriptions, those who had less internet available in roaming than in the country, things will change and the amount will increase, but will not exceed the allocation available for Romania.

From January 3, the prices for the minutes spoken in roaming will also decrease, in their case we are talking about a decrease of 3%, from 1.08 euro cents per minute to 0.91 euro cents per minute. Here again we are talking about a lower price paid for what you talk about after consuming the resources available in the subscriptions in Romania, and this is because if you have a lot of national minutes, they are all now available in roaming.

"At the same time, in case of exceeding the limits of the reasonable use of roaming services in the EU/EEA, the surcharges that can be applied to subsequent consumption also decrease, as follows:
  • from January 1, 2018, the data surcharge drops by 22%, from 7,7 to 6 Euro/GB;
  • from January 3, 2018, the surcharge for incoming calls drops by 16%, from 1,08 to 0,91 Eurocents/minute."

Those from ANCOM also created two video clips last summer to explain what the changes mean for the roaming tariffs applied to customers in Romania, they allow the use of national resources outside the country. This is not changing now, only the tariffs are decreasing, as imposed by the European Union, so starting with 2018 we will enjoy more benefits for roaming, as is normal, by the way.
