The authorities demand an explanation from Apple for the iPhone slowdown

Apple is being asked for the first time by the government authorities about the decision to limit the performance of the iPhone because of the battery.

The scandal in which Apple is involved, because it admitted that slow down iPhone because of battery, entered a new phase, so that after the trials we now have government authorities involved. The ones in South Korea ask from the company Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), official explanations for the reason on the basis of which iPhone phones have reduced performance due to the degree of wear of the battery.

Apple has claimed that iPhones with batteries that have a high degree of wear have poorer performance in order not to shut down when used in the cold, and at least 9 lawsuits have been opened against it. Now the government agency that regulates communications and mobile terminals sold in South Korea wants an official answer from the American company for this practice.

Although Apple limits iPhone performance in many countries around the world, the authorities in South Korea are the first to demand an official explanation for this American practice. They claim that Apple is accused of trying to deceive its customers by limiting the performance of the iPhone and now they want to find out if there is any trace of truth behind these accusations or not.

"The Korean broadcasting and telecom regulator has formally sought an explanation from Apple on allegations that it tried to defraud customers by deliberately slowing down devices without warning, according to industry sources on Dec. 8. "We are hoping to get some answers on whether Apple intentionally restricted the performance of old iPhones and tried to hide this from customers," said the Korea Communications Commission.

The problem is that the government agency in South Korea cannot do anything but demand an explanation from Apple, because it has no jurisdiction against companies from other countries. Despite this, we have the first government agency to ask the Apple company why it deceives its customers who buy iPhones, but it will most likely not be the last.
