Permanent jailbreak could be possible again for iPhone and iPad thanks to the source code for the bootrom and secureROM of Apple's iDevices. Those from Cupertino offered developers unencrypted ipsws for iOS and access to the source code of ARM64 used in iOS, iPhone and iPad, and these can be the basis of future permanent jailbreak solutions.
For now, access has only been offered to the source code of the files for iOS 9, a very old operating system of the Apple company, but from it you can start towards something better. Cyber security researchers could try to discover exploits that could be active including in iOS 11 for iPhone and iPad, but everything needs time and dedication.
Some of you probably remember those bootrom exploits that allowed the release of permanent jailbreak solutions for iPhone and iPad in the past. Those bootrom exploits allowed jailbreaks on affected iPhones and iPads regardless of which version of iOS Apple released, even if they were then tethered, meaning that a computer had to be used to restore them when restarting.
I think a lot of people would be happy to have such jailbreak solutions available again for iPhone and iPad, even if limited, and maybe this will be possible. I tend to believe that if enough people got involved, new important jailbreak solutions would be released, but most likely money prevents them from being released publicly.
