Vivo X20 Plus: How the First Smartphone with an In-Screen Fingerprint Reader Works

Vivo X20 Plus is the first smartphone with a fingerprint reader integrated into the screen, and a first review shows us how well the offered technology works.

Vivo X20 Plus is the first smartphone to have a fingerprint reader integrated into the screen, the Chinese company Vivo being able to offer this technology thanks to a partnership it has with Synaptics. We expected a fingerprint reader integrated into the screens of iPhone X and Samsung Galaxy S8, or even Samsung Galaxy S9, but the Vivo X20 Plus managed to bring it, an impressive achievement, although the phone itself is a clone of several smartphone models- premium rates.

Vivo X20 Plus has the fingerprint reader integrated at the base of the screen, it's strange that you can see it through the screen before actually turning on the phone, but after turning on the screen, it becomes invisible, at least from what we see. Registering a fingerprint for the Vivo X20 Plus is much, much more difficult than in the case of a smartphone with a fingerprint reader under the screen, or in the case, but that was to be expected, considering how big the change is.

Vivo X20 Plus unlocks, however, surprisingly quickly compared to the first demonstrations we saw for the similar technology developed by the Qualcomm company for smartphones. Practically, after placing your finger on the Vivo X20 Plus screen, unlocking is done quickly enough so that you don't feel the lack of a normal fingerprint reader, even faster than with Face ID, which also requires a swipe on the screen.

Vivo X20 Plus pleasantly impresses me with this integration of the fingerprint reader, despite the fact that it copied the entire iOS and some elements of the iPhone, but the Chinese don't really care where it is stolen from. The Vivo X20 Plus shows us an interesting future for smartphones, because this is just the beginning of the appearance of mobile phones that will allow scanning the fingerprint directly through the screen, and not through the case, the smartest possible way to do it.
