Facebook starts spamming via SMS

Facebook started spamming via SMS, but also publishing posts on users' profile pages without them ever asking for it.

facebook spam sms

Facebook he tries to bring his users back to his social network by any kind of methods, so now he takes advantage of the phone numbers registered by them to spam by SMS as well, not just by email. According to some people who activated the 2-step login system, which involves sending an SMS code for logging into a Facebook account, the company started sending them spam messages with their friends' posts.

Facebook sent these people an SMS message every time a friend published a new post in their own account, something that people received anyway as a notification in the company's application, but also by email. Of course, there is no method to block the sending of SMS of this kind, and the answers given to the respective phone numbers were automatically published on the profile of the user who received the SMS messages from Facebook.

Facebook is starting to spam via SMS as well

Facebook was basically sending spam via SMS, and when the user sent a message back asking them to stop, the company published that message on the user's profile page, something that shouldn't have happened. Of course, none of the people who started receiving spam SMS messages with other people's posts asked for it, but Facebook refuses to confirm that this is a problem it is solving, or an intentional feature.

"We give people control over their notifications, including those that relate to security features like two-factor authentication. We're looking into this situation to see if there's more we can do to help people manage their communications. Also, people who sign up for two-factor authentication using a U2F security key and code generator do not need to register a phone number with Facebook."

Facebook uses people's phone numbers to send them unsolicited messages, i.e. spam, and this is against the laws of many countries, the company being involved in some lawsuits for the illegal use of users' phone numbers. In this situation, it is hard to believe that Facebook will stop SMS spam since it is desperate to increase the number of monthly active users on the platform, so the people who are affected will probably not get rid of the problem easily.
