Tim Cook, the company's president Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC),, declared yesterday in an interview that the phones iPhone they are produced in the USA by the Apple company, but they are assembled elsewhere. Tim Cook stated that Apple produces in the USA the components for the iPhone phones in the development process, but the finished products are assembled in China, India, or Brazil, by various partners.
Apple produces in its Cupertino laboratories some of the main components of the iPhone, including the cases that are used in the devices, Jony Ive having special machines for the designers who work on them. Separately, Corning produces the protective panels for iPhone screens in the USA, and the TrueDepth camera for Face ID comes from Texas.
Apart from that, various other iPhone components come from American companies, but the vast majority of those used in Apple's phones and tablets are manufactured in Asia. All the components are assembled there at costs that cannot be obtained in the USA, and this is how Apple explains the fact that iPhones are produced in the USA.
"It's not true that the iPhone is not made in the United States. We have always made the parts here. There's equipment and manufacturing all over the US. People just look at where the final product is assembled."
Last year, Donald Trump promised that Apple would produce the iPhone in the USA, but of course this did not happen and will not happen, he mainly referring to the assembly. The president of Foxconn stated that the iPhone will never be able to be assembled in the US due to the high costs, but those from Apple want to present a completely different situation.
