iPhone X: Apple's Big Spring Disappointment

iPhone X is the big disappointment of the spring of the Apple company, the sales of the mobile phone will be far below the expectations of those from Cupertino in Q1 2018.

iPhone X Disappointment Spring Apple

iPhone X is presented as a big disappointment for the company Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), this spring, phone sales not being close to the expectations of those in Cupertino, or at least that's what American analysts say. American analysts expect that in Q1 2018 the sales of iPhone phones will total 53 million units, with 1.7 million units less than the initial estimates, and the iPhone X is the main "culprit" for this decrease.

iPhone X is also the main reason why the sales estimate for iPhone phones was reduced in Q2 2018 from 43.5 million units to only 40.3 million units in the US. The difference between the estimates is almost 10% for the iPhone series of the Apple company, and this is a sign that people are no longer considering the iPhone X for purchase, waiting for something that is really worth the money.

The iPhone X is also the main reason why total sales of the iPhone series for 2018 were reduced by 2.5% compared to 2017, now reaching 217.3 million units, according to analysts from Goldman Sachs. The interesting part is that, excluding the iPhone X, analysts believe that including iPhone 9 sales in 2019 will decrease by 4%, while for 2020 they estimate a decrease of 1.8%.

"iPhone demand expectations for March and June are already weak but we believe that early CQ1 (calendar first quarter) demand indications suggest even lower actual numbers than consensus is modeling. We believe that consensus forecasts continue to miss the impact of a potential mix shift towards higher priced X phones even though our own ASP expectations are tempered somewhat by the addition of the relatively lower priced (compared to OLED models) LCD X phone.”

iPhone X seems to be to blame for the decrease in the total receipts of the Apple company for 2017, analysts saying that they will be 2.4% lower than the estimates, so of only 256.6 billion dollars. Analysts do not seem to be too confident in the success of the iPhone 11 either, saying that after the launch of the future phone model, Apple's earnings will also decrease in fiscal year 2019, so expectations are very low due to the high prices of the phones.
