YouTube: The Next Target of the American Government after Facebook

YouTube could be the next target of the American government after Facebook seems to have escaped the attention of the investigators, Twitter and Reddit could be targeted.

YouTube Targets US Government Facebook

YouTube is seen as the next target of the American government after the scandal regarding the company Facebook seems to be coming to an end after President Mark Zuckerberg was questioned at length in the US Congress. The world is slowly, slowly starting to look beyond Facebook, and YouTube seems to be one of the next targets because of the way the company Google is suspected of collecting information about users.

YouTube is seen by some as a website used for manipulation through the video clips published there, the advertisements being, apparently, displayed for users in a similar way to that used by Facebook. YouTube is, of course, only a product of the Google company and is unlikely to have collected data in the way it is presented by many, but still, the video sharing platform could be investigated by the government.

YouTube could be investigated together with Twitter, another social network where much more manipulations were shared than through Facebook, and this is known to everyone. If video clips were published on YouTube that were allegedly used to manipulate people, various web pages containing controversial information were shared on Twitter, the network having to be investigated at least as intensively as Facebook.

"I think the next two companies that should be in the hot seat are going to be Google's YouTube division and either Twitter or reddit. YouTube has been very, very actively used by disinformation campaigns, political campaigns, scam artists. If Twitter blocks up 50 million users, their stock tanks."

YouTube and Twitter are not yet officially in the sights of those in the US Congress, but it is very possible that this will change in the not very near future, and then we could find out more information about what is being collected about us. To be completely honest, I don't think that in the case of YouTube it would be about the unauthorized access of data by third parties, as happened with Facebook, and this for Google protects the data much better than the Facebook company, something already known by many many.
