Apple: The technology that Samsung only dreams of

Apple is currently developing a new technology that Samsung only dreams of, and those from Cupertino intend to implement it in products soon.

Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), is currently developing a very interesting new technology, which is useful for products that some consider to be the future for all of humanity. More precisely, the Apple company is currently developing a technology that allows the tracking of eye movements, it being tested by the Americans for headsets for virtual reality and augmented reality.

Apple would have a headset for augmented reality in development, and the new technology for tracking eye movements would bring major improvements for a product of this kind in the future. In order to be able to follow the movements of the users' eyes, those from Apple would use cameras and mirrors in the helmet for augmented reality, the idea itself not being that difficult to put into practice.

Apple also describes the use of an infrared light emitter in the sides of a case for augmented reality, which can easily monitor the movements of our eyes. Apple directs the cameras and the infrared light emitter to a dielectric mirror, this being positioned between the lenses integrated in the headphones for augmented and virtual reality to monitor our eye movements.

"An eye tracking system for detecting position and movements of a user's eyes in a head-mounted display (HMD). The eye tracking system may include at least one near-IR (NIR) eye tracking camera positioned at each side of the user's face and pointed towards eye-facing surfaces of eyepieces of the HMD, an illumination source that emits NIR light towards the user's eyes , and hot mirrors located between the eye-facing surfaces of the eyepieces and the user's eyes."

By monitoring the movements of the eyes, the Apple company can customize the information that is displayed on the headset screens for virtual and augmented reality, something that many companies are trying to do, but can't really do. At the moment, Apple plans to launch a pair of smart glasses in 2019, or at the latest 2020, and this technology can be of real use in such a product.
