iPhone 9 it is to be launched this year by the Apple company with an LCD screen that has a diagonal of 6.1 inches, but until now clear information regarding the type of screen has not been revealed by anyone. Well, it would seem that the iPhone 9 could use a new type of screen called MLCD+, which was developed by the LG company, and the first smartphone in which it is used is LG G7, being the brightest implemented in a phone.

iPhone 9 could have this new screen with a major change, it uses four subpixels per pixel, instead of 3, and thanks to this change, the brightness is increased to 1000 nits by the LG company. MLCD+ screens were initially developed by the LG company for the 4K televisions sold a few years ago around the world, but now they are successfully used in the LG G7, and soon they could also reach Apple's iPhone 9.

iPhone 9 with an MLCD+ screen would be a very interesting surprise, but a major upgrade over the iPhone 8 series, which still uses the old LCD technologies that Apple used in the past years. Although those from LG have been providing screens for iPhone and iPad for a very long time, the decision to take over the LG G9 screen in the iPhone 7 is not an easy one, and Apple will want to make some changes to highlight its components compared to those of other phones.

"M+ is the result of the transition to 4K/UHD and the need to reduce the cost related to the backlight to bring to market affordable 4K TVs. The addition of a white sub-pixel improves the light transmittance rate to 8%. Assume the same brightness target of say 1000 cd/m2 on a 4K/UHD TV, M+ translates to lower backlight costs by reducing the number of LEDs and/or optical films compared to a panel that uses a RGB stripe configuration."

iPhone 9 could have this screen because it allows Apple to substantially reduce the edges of the screen and offer an experience much closer to that of iPhone X, or iPhone 11, but nothing is certain. iPhone 9 will be released in the fall of this year by the Apple company, and by then we will certainly find out almost all the important news that the new phone will bring to customers from all over the world.
