Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), received a fine due to a problem a iPhone which generated frustration among a very large number of users from all over the world last year, although it was resolved in the end. Last year many people were affected by 53 error which completely destroys iPhone phones after the defective Home button was replaced at a third-party service.

Apple did not tell customers that it was going to implement a change in iOS that would break their iPhones, and Australian authorities decided to impose a $9 million fine against the Americans. The fine is imposed by a federal court in Australia because of the problem that generates error 53 on iPhones in 2017.

Apple: FINED due to an iPhone PROBLEM

Apple was fined 9 million dollars because it does not allow customers to repair their phones at third-party services, and they were breaking down when the respective repairs were being made. Moreover, if the screen was replaced and the whole phone breaks, Apple does not solve the problem, and now it will have to endure an initial trial by the Australian authorities.

“[The customers said] they were being refused a remedy of any kind by Apple on the basis that their device had had unauthorized repairs, and those repairs could be as minor as just having a cracked screen replaced on an iPhone or iPad, which all of us need to do from time to time. So these consumers were being told, 'because you've had this third party repair, you are not entitled to any remedy'."

Apple negotiated this fine with the Australian authorities, and obliged itself before the court not to implement similar measures that would block its customers' products in the future. Of course, no one knows whether Apple will keep its word or not, but since it reached an agreement to pay the fine, it is clear that it has admitted its fault.
