Google: ATTENTION, what you need to know about Gmail

Google has a rather serious problem in front these days, because the platform gmail, used by hundreds of millions of people around the world, can have their emails read by third-party application developers. Google has created a set of settings for accessing data from the Gmail platform, and based on them, third-party application developers can see people's emails, their private details, the addresses of those who receive emails, the sending/receiving data, plus the content of the emails.

Google has also created a set of rules for accessing data from Gmail, but those who have analyzed the document say that it is not very clear what people are, or are not, allowed to see from these messages. Google claims that automatic access to this Gmail data is offered only to companies that it has thoroughly verified, while other companies need the user's consent to be able to access data from the platform.

Google: ATTENTION, what you need to know about Gmail

Google says that many companies have asked for permission to access data from Gmail, but they have not received it, so they ask for permission from users, who, without knowing exactly what they are doing, give it to them, and they access the data . You can see in the image below what the message looks like asking us to provide access to Gmail data for third-party applications, and according to Google, including its employees, they can read emails in "special" situations.

"But the internet giant continues to let hundreds of outside software developers scan the inboxes of millions of Gmail users who signed up for email-based services offering shopping price comparisons, automated travel-itinerary planners or other tools. Google does little to police those developers, who train their computers—and, in some cases, employees—to read their users' emails."

Google says that since users give these applications access to the data from their email accounts, only we can restrict that data access, the company providing it based on the consent given by us. If you have so far given access to any application to Gmail data, then you will have to access the Google settings menu to see which applications have access, and turn it off.
