Samsung announced today the opening of the largest factory where mobile phones are produced, the Korean company building it in India, a country with a lot of cheap "labor". Samsung organized a ceremony in which the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, and the South Korean President Moon Jae-in participated to inaugurate the factory, which is located in Noida.

Samsung is going to produce there up to 120 million phones annually, an amazing figure, which represents about a third of the phones that the company sells annually. Samsung will manufacture there a varied range of phones from those that cost only 100 dollars to premium models such as Samsung Galaxy S9, so the Indians will assemble just about everything.

Samsung Opened the BIGGEST Phone Factory

Samsung built a factory in India because of local legislation that imposes very high import taxes on phones made in other countries, so its profit should increase even more. Samsung lost the first position in the list of phone sellers in India just a short time ago, with Xiaomi overtaking them, but that could change soon.

"Samsung Electronics Co. will open the world's largest mobile phone factory in India. The new Samsung factory will have the capacity of 120 million smartphones per year, and make everything from low-end smartphones that cost under $100 to its flagship S9 model."

Samsung is not the only phone manufacturer that was forced to move its production to India due to local legislation, those from Apple collaborating with Pegatron to also have a factory there. Samsung produces phones for its own sales, without assembling units for other companies, but the production there will also reach many other areas around the globe.
