Starting today, Google Assistant has implemented a very important change for users, so that they can initiate video calls through the assistant, using the Duo or Hangouts applications for Android, not for iOS.
Google Assistant offers users the opportunity to initiate a video call with any of the contacts they have in their phonebook, and these are initiated using either the Duo or Hangouts application. Unlike the iPhone, which has FaceTime, there is nothing similar natively in Android, so Google Assistant supports Google's Duo and Hangouts applications, but probably in the future it will also be compatible with third-party ones available in Google Play.

Google Assistant allows the initiation of the video call by saying a simple command like video call contact, as happens with Siri, by the way, the difference being that a separate Google service must be used. The implementation of support for this functionality within the Google Assistant should not be surprising, since other assistants have had this functionality for a very long time, so Google is just catching up with its competition in terms of it.
Google Assistant launched this functionality today, it being distributed globally by the Google company, so not all users will see it right away, or use it from the moment it is offered to them. As you already know very well, Google Assistant is currently offered by the Google company only in the USA, an application for iPhone being available there, and not too long ago a special application for Android is also available, but it is not known when it will arrive in Romania too.
