5G is a BIG PROBLEM for Smartphone Manufacturers

5G turns out to be a very big problem for smartphone manufacturers, here's what Samsung, Huawei, LG, Xiaomi are struggling to solve before launching their products.

5G PROBLEM Smartphone

5G is a big problem for the companies that produce smartphones, the technology of the future bringing a lot of headaches for those who are thinking of implementing support for it now. According to some information from inside the factories where smartphones are produced, although there are currently modem chips to implement 5G in phones, the integration of the support cannot be done as easily as one would think.

5G represents a very big problem for smartphone manufacturers because they have to find solutions to provide enough energy for the new chips, but also to dissipate their heat. According to the tests carried out so far, the first 5G smartphone modems generate a lot of heat in the phone case, apparently needing dedicated cooling solutions, and there is not much room for them in the mobile device cases.

5G is a BIG PROBLEM for Smartphone Manufacturers

5G still remains an extremely important technology, so Samsung, LG, Huawei, Apple, and many other companies are now testing its implementation in their own smartphones that are to be launched on the market. The first three want to launch the first 5G smartphones next year, and at the moment they are looking for solutions for cooling the new modems, each of them having their own ideas about what should be used for efficient cooling.

"While preparing to launch 5G-enabled smartphones in the first half of 2019, most major handset vendors are reportedly seeking new thermal management solutions in response to heat dissipation requirements under high-speed 5G environments. Android phone makers, including Huawei, Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo, Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics, are apparently more keen than Apple on the development of 5G phones."

5G will definitely arrive in smartphones very soon, and the launch of the first processors produced using a 7nm manufacturing process will help solve the problem with heat dissipation, as they operate at lower temperatures. Of course, because patience is still needed for the implementation of 5G to be done properly, but the good part is that at the moment they are working intensively on accommodating smartphones for it, and by the time it is ready, we will have networks to use.
