E-ALERT is the national emergency warning system, and although it is extremely useful and can save many lives, unfortunately it does not work on the iPhone, whether you are on Orange, Vodafone, Telekom, Digi. RO-ALERT was designed to work through Cell Broadcast on mobile phones, that is, it sends warning messages that do not come via SMS, but through a separate system, they are displayed on the phone screens as a normal notification, but with a sound of special alert, and they don't disappear until you close them manually.
RO-ALERT is currently not able to send Cell Broadcast type messages on iPhone phones because Apple has not implemented in iOS the necessary support for this technology to be used in Romania. Apple has a special page where it talks about emergency and government alerts, such as those sent by RO-ALERT, but although the USA and other countries have support for this type of alert, it has not yet been implemented in Romania.
RO-ALERT: Here's why it DOESN'T WORK on the iPhone
RO-ALERT will also work on iPhones from the moment Apple implements in iOS the necessary data for the system in Romania to send warning messages via Cell Broadcast. Unfortunately, until now no announcement has been made regarding the possible implementation of RO-ALERT for iPhone phones in Romania, so it is difficult to say how long we will have to wait until we can receive the messages as well.
RO-ALERT will have a setting in the notification menu of iOS that will allow the complete deactivation of receiving messages, if the authorities allow this, those from Apple saying that in some countries receiving could be mandatory. Having said that, RO-ALERT does not work on the iPhone because Apple has not implemented support for the system in Romania, and to the same extent it is not known when support could be offered for our phones.
RO-ALERT does not work on the iPhone, but the DSU application from the App Store will send emergency alerts that also arrive through the same IGSU system.
