iPhone XS had an extremely extensive review for the new A12 chip that includes the processor, RAM memory, and all internal components, and the result is truly amazing. iPhone XS has a new A12 chip that brings huge improvements for the processor cache, for the core architecture, for video card memory compression, but, extremely important, for the energy efficiency it offers for the daily use of phones and tablets.

iPhone XS has, according to SPECint2006, 24% better performance than iPhone X with the A11 chip when it comes to processing power, energy efficiency being 12% better, according to Anantech. In intensive use, the A12 in the iPhone XS consumes 12 more energy than the A11, but the 28% increase in processing power is also confirmed by SPECfp, and the images below show how big the difference is compared to current Android processors .

In the new A12 chip, the iPhone XS has better performance than Apple made clear, the processing power being almost 2 times higher than that of Android phones, according to those from Anand tech. In the case of energy efficiency, those from Anantech claim that the iPhone XS could have an energy efficiency of up to 3 times higher than Android phones with current processors, the difference being a huge one, but we are talking here about the existing models.

"The contrast to the best Android SoCs have to offer is extremely stark - both in terms of performance as well as in power efficiency. Apple's SoCs have better energy efficiency than all recent Android SoCs while having a nearly 2x performance advantage. I wouldn't be surprised that if we were to normalize for energy used, Apple would have a 3x performance efficiency lead."

The iPhone XS has a new A12 chip produced using a 7nm manufacturing process, i.e. last generation, but it will be interesting to see how it fares against Huawei's new Kirin 980 chip, which will have an identical architecture. At the moment, the iPhone XS has a huge advantage over Android phones thanks to its new processor, but this could change quickly after the launch of the Kirin 980, Qualcomm Snapdragon 855, and Exynos 9820, even if not all of them will be on 7nm.
