Earthquake today in Romania, at 03:38, before the transition to winter time, this one having a magnitude of 5.8 degrees on the Richter scale, and being felt in a fairly wide area in our country. I already told you why for this one earthquake no warnings were sent through the emergency system E-ALERT, this not being intended to alert the Romanian population before the occurrence of such an event, but only after its occurrence.
Today's earthquake in Romania produced no victims among the population, and apparently no material damage, according to the IGSU, but you can see that it was felt in a very wide area of the country, including in the Republic of Moldova. The epicenter for today's earthquake was in the Vrancea area, near Buzau, where it was felt the strongest, but as you can see, a much wider area was affected by the seismic waves of this event.

The earthquake was felt very strongly including in Bucharest, Ploiesti, Brasov, Iasi, Focsani, and many other nearby towns, or located in the direction of the seismic waves, as you can see in the image above. In Chisinau, today's earthquake had an intensity of 5 degrees on the Richter scale, so you can imagine what force it had since it started in the south of our country and spread with such intensity to the Republic of Moldova.
A similar earthquake has not occurred in Romania for several years, but those from the National Institute for Earth Physics (INFP) stated that a stronger discharge was expected because in 2018 there were only 4 earthquakes with a magnitude of over 4 degrees on the Richter scale.
